Title: Analysis of stomach contents from the black-browed albatross, Thalassarche melanophris, on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil / Maria Virgínia Petry, Vanda Simone da Silva Fonseca, Angelo Luís Scherer.
Author(s): Petry, Maria Virgínia.

Date: 2007.
In: Polar Biology. (2007.), Vol. 30(3) (2007)
Abstract: Presents data on stomach contents of 35 albatross carcasses recovered between July 1997 and July 1998 from southern coast of Brazil, where number of migrating birds seems to have declined. 6% of stomachs contained fish, 32% cephalopods, 9% crustaceans, and 69% contained nematodes and nematomorphs, with highest abundance values per stomach of 182 nematode individuals and 223 nematomorphs. Synthetic materials were present in 29% of stomachs analyzed, comprising thermo-plastic, nylon, rubber and metal wire.
