| Abstract: | Assesses state of sea otter populations by comparative method using criteria such as density of equilibrium populations (on ostrov Mednyy and ostrov Iturup), food supply and effects of certain external factors. Calculates optimal values of population density for larger islands. Analyses content of sea otter diet on Commander Islands, Kuril Islands and southern Kamchatka. Concludes that abundance of sea otter in Russia may increase slightly in particular in southern and central Kurils. |
