Abstract: Presents statistics of seabird mortality in Alaskan longline groundfish fisheries between 1993-1997. Finds bycatch rate to be highest in Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands area (0.09 birds per 1,000 hooks). Northern fulmars (Fulmarus glacialis) represent 66% of total bycatch of all bird species, with gulls (Larus hyperboreus, L. glaucescens) contributing 18%.
