Abstract: Creates tectonic model of rift system of Laptev Sea and compiles palaeogeographic scenarios for last 400 000 years, based on analysis of environmental conditions of East-Siberian Arctic. Mathematical modelling shows that, in course of evolution of permafrost, its thickness above fault zones can be sharply reduced. As result, traps of underground gases and hydrates can develop, as well as open submarine taliks. Studies enable forecasting of formation and evolution of traps and open taliks in rift system of Laptev Sea in connection with geothermal heterogeneity and periodic draining and flooding of shelf.
