Abstract: | Chronicles contributions of International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers to social, political, and economic development of NWT, and particularly its capital, Yellowknife. Activists arrived within decade of emergence of gold mining industry around Yellowknife Bay starting in mid-1930s, and continued to be influential until labour movement both regionally and nationally began transition from being industrially-based to one grounded in public service. |
