Abstract: Assesses degree of pollution along Kola river based on overall water quality evaluation and analysis of metals in water samples and aquatic mosses. Compares observed pollutant levels with those in unpolluted rivers. Results indicate low overall contamination in Kola river, though with elevated Cu and Ni levels. Finds that bryophyte analysis is more sensitive tool for metal pollution assessment than measurements of metal concentrations in water.
