The climate of Heard Island / Doug Thost, Ian Allison.

Title: The climate of Heard Island / Doug Thost, Ian Allison.
Author(s): Thost, Doug.
Allison, Ian.
Date: 2006.
Publisher: Chipping Norton, NSW: Surrey Beatty
In: Heard Island : Southern Ocean sentinel. (2006.),
Abstract: Describes climate of sub-Antarctic Heard Island, with particular reference to effects of physiography and glaciers; setting in southern Indian Ocean; seasonal and regional variability of air pressure and temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, precipitation, clouds, and Föhn winds. Discusses evidence for climate change on island during 1950-2000, and suggests that over past 50 years Atlas Cove has undergone overall warming of about 1°C. Includes historical account of meteorological measurements on island.
