Record #183818:
A review of the impacts of introduced rodents on the islands of Tristan and Gough / Andrea Angel, John Cooper.
Title: | A review of the impacts of introduced rodents on the islands of Tristan and Gough / Andrea Angel, John Cooper. |
Author(s): | Angel, Andrea. Cooper, John. |
Date: | 2006. |
Publisher: | Sandy: Royal Society for the Protection of Birds |
Abstract: | Provides background for field investigation to assess feasility of removing rodents Rattus rattus and Mus musculus from sub-Antarctic Tristan da Cunha and Gough Islands. Although little is known about historical ecology of Tristan, it is inferred from islands where rodents are not present that island ecosystem has been negatively affected, and that unless action is taken bird populations will continue to decline. Main threat to Gough Island is house mouse, which preys on eggs and chicks of several endangered species, including Tristan albatross Diomedea dabbenena. |
