| Abstract: | Examines bio-optical relationships between slopes of spectral backscattering coefficients and size structure parameters of oceanic and coastal marine phytoplankton communities of Southern Ocean. Uses field data from Palmer Long-Term Ecological Research project in western shelf of Antarctic Peninsula, chlorophyll a fractions, in situ satellite remote-sensing reflectance (Rrs) estimations, and satellite Rrs data from Sea-Viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) collected during summer cruises. Also explores relationships between total phytoplankton chlorophyll a concentration and phytoplankton size structure. |
