Title: | Population decreases in little penguins Eudyptula minor in southeastern Tasmania, Australia, over the past 45 years / Caryn Stevenson, Eric J. Woehler. |
Author(s): | Stevenson, Caryn. Woehler, Eric J. |
Date: | 2007. |
In: | Marine Ornithology. (2007.), Vol. 35(1) (2007) |
Abstract: | Comparison of historical population and distribution pre-1996 with 2002-03 breeding season within 150 km radius of Hobart shows that of 12 colonies examined, four had disappeared and two have decreased appreciably in size within last decade, probably due to predation by introduced vertebrates, habitat modification and destruction, and incidental drowning in recreational gillnets. |
