О формировании снежных лавин в лесу

Title: О формировании снежных лавин в лесу
Title, transliterated: O formirovanii snezhnykh lavin v lesu / N.A. Kazakov.
Translated title: On the origin of snow avalanches in forest areas.
Author(s): Kazakov, N. A.
Date: 2007.
Language: Russian.
In: Materialy Gli︠a︡t︠s︡iologicheskikh Issledovaniĭ. (2007.), Vol. 102 (2007)
Abstract: Examines formation of avalanches on mountain slopes in forest areas of Sakhalin island. Illustrates with examples of avalanche areas and tracks and presents characteristic snow stratigraphies at fracture lines. Finds avalanches possible on slopes greater than 35° (more generally 40°) under strong metamorphism of snow cover in combination with snowfalls or temperature rises to positive values and formation of wet snow layer in upper parts.
