| Abstract: | Presents contents and construction of remote sensing database for Antarctic ice sheet marginal zone, intended as GIS base for modelling ice sheet reaction to climate change and contribution to sea level change. Describes inclusion of remote sensing data classified by wave bands, density of information and morphological region of marginal zone, together with results of direct instrumental geodetic and glaciological studies and meteodata from coastal and island stations. Information is held as ArcGIS coverages. Describes database for ice drainage basin IV (inc. Wilkes Land) containing long and high quality observation series, and its use to determine trend of reducing accumulation during second part of last century against background of very slight cooling and increasing precipitation. |
