| Abstract: | Assesses long-term changes of snow depth in catchment basins of Onega and Ladega lakes, Kola peninsula, Karelia, in relation to regional meteorological conditions. Uses Fourier analysis to examine periodicity of long-term changes in snowiness and air temperature and their interannual anomalies, which do not generally coincide. Khibiny mountains are an exception, with long term changes in avalanche frequency, related to snowiness and air temperature, coinciding with fluctuations in air temperature. Discusses causes and consequences of relationships observed. |
