Abstract: Reports results of ship-based line transect survey of large whales in East and West Greenland in September 2005, in which 194 sightings of 13 cetacean species amre obtained. Finds fin whales (Balaenoptera physalus) to be most abundant in East Greenland with lower abundance estimated for West Greenland; sei whales (B.borealis) to be encountered most frequently in same areas as fin whales; and humpback whales (Megaptera novvaeangliae) to be found in both coastal and offshore areas of West Greenland. Also provides abundance estimates for common minke whale (B. acutorostrata).
