Difference in diet and age structure of blue and white Arctic foxes (Vulpes lagopus) in the Disko Bay area, West Greenland / Sussie Pagh, Páll Hersteinsson.

Title: Difference in diet and age structure of blue and white Arctic foxes (Vulpes lagopus) in the Disko Bay area, West Greenland / Sussie Pagh, Páll Hersteinsson.
Author(s): Pagh, Sussie.
Hersteinsson, Páll.
Date: 2008.
In: Polar Research. (2008.), Vol. 26(1) (2008)
Abstract: Investigates stomach contents of 41 Arctic foxes (Vulpes lagopus) killed during winter and spring (December-June 1991-93) on Disko Island. Finds fish, seabirds and marine invertebrates to be most important winter food for Arctic foxes. Most fish remains in stomachs are identified as capelin (Mallotus villosus). Stomachs of blue foxes contain more fish than those of white foxes. Results of study suggest most white foxes are immigrants to Disko Bay, while blue foxes originate locally.
