Record #183390:

Effects of space and scale in the food web structure of the Aleutian Archipelago / Ivonne Ortiz, Kerim Aydin.

Title: Effects of space and scale in the food web structure of the Aleutian Archipelago / Ivonne Ortiz, Kerim Aydin.
Author(s): Ortiz, Ivonne.
Aydin, Kerim.
Date: 2007.
In: Alaska Fisheries Science Center. Quarterly Report. (2007.), Oct-Dec (2007)
Abstract: Reports investigation of effects of space and scale in food web in one of most productive Alaskan fishing grounds, using two ecosystem modelling approaches: large-scale food web model based on Aleutian Isalnds only; and series of 13 simplified standardised continuous food web models for each block of two degrees longitude, covering US portion of entire eastern, central and western Aleutian Islands. Results demonstrate usefulness of multiple scales and modelling approaches in helping fishery managers set ecosystem-wide goals while tracking changes and tailoring tactics to match smaller-scale human-environmental interactions.
