Abstract: Reports estimates of atmospheric near-surface layer parameters over drifting ice at 78°N ice camp over Arctic Ocean, using bulk transfer methods with data from experiments operated by Chinese Arctic Scientific Expedition (2003). Results show net radiation received by snow surface is only 3.6 W/m², most of which is transported into atmosphere as sensible and latent heat, with smaller portion being transported into deep ice in conductive process. Compares results with those obtained over drifting ice at 75° N in 1999.
