Abstract: Reports generation of density-driven current in laboratory experiment by releasing dense fluid over sloping bottom in rotating fresh water system, in attempt to model descent of dense water from continental shelves into deep ocean over continental slope. Notes that sources of deep-water formation are found mainly in polar regions (on Arctic continental shelves and at various sites on Antarctic continental shelf in winter).
