Record #183149:

Vegetation changes in the Nordic mountain birch forest ;the influence of grazing and climate change / H. Tømmervik, and 6 others.

Title: Vegetation changes in the Nordic mountain birch forest ;the influence of grazing and climate change / H. Tømmervik, and 6 others.
Author(s): Tømmervik, H.
Date: 2004.
In: Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2004.), Vol. 36(3) (2004)
Abstract: Focuses on vegetation changes in Nordic mountain birch forest in northern Norway, covering period of more than 40 years, in study area covered by lichen and dwarf shrub vegetation. Uses remote sensing and ground surveys to estimate sizes of various vegetation classes. Finds significant change in vegetation cover during study period, with vegetation types dominated by bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), wavy hair grass (Deschampia flexuosa), dwarf cornel (Cornus suecica) and mosses tripling in abundance over 40-year period.
