Abstract: Describes position on West, where until 1937 no foreign fishing vessels might appproach coast, then Faeringehavn was opened. East Greenland's history is sketched from 1908, when Norwegians were trapping fox and bear. East Greenland Trapping Company lost money on setting up 5 huts. Radio station was set up in Myggbukta in 1922. In 1931 Nanok Company set up huts including one at Zackenberg. In 1937 stocks of fox, bear and muskox were still healthy. Other developing activities were salmon fishing, tourism and meteorological observations. Only in 1937 was coast inaccessible because of ice.
