Record #182077:

Interhemispheric Conjugacy Effects in Solar-Terrestrial and Aeronomy Research (ICESTAR) implementation plan / Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR).

Title: Interhemispheric Conjugacy Effects in Solar-Terrestrial and Aeronomy Research (ICESTAR) implementation plan / Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR).
Author (corporate): Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR)
Date: 2006.
In: SCAR Report. (2006.), Vol. 26 (2006)
Abstract: Describes SCAR research programme designed to exploit capacity to investigate geospace and conjugate relations from southern polar region. Programme aims to enhance visibility, accessibility and usability of Antarctic geospace data to enable whole-system geospace research, including inter-hemispheric and ground-space studies, and new cross-disciplinary research such as teleconnections between upper and lower levels of atmosphere. Lists members of steering committee and details programmes of activities for 2005-2009. Four thematic action groups (TAGs) established to coordinate research activities are: quantification of coupling between polar ionosphere and neutral atmosphere from bottom-to-top and global electric circuit; quantification of inner magnetospheric dynamics using remote sensing techniques; quantification of state of upper atmosphere, ionosphere, and magnetosphere over Antarctic continent and how it differs from northern hemisphere during wide range of geophysical conditions; and creation and management of data portal.
