Ice amphipods in drifting sea ice around Svalbard: quantitative collections by scuba divers / Haakon Hop, Olga Pavlova.
Title: | Ice amphipods in drifting sea ice around Svalbard: quantitative collections by scuba divers / Haakon Hop, Olga Pavlova. |
Author(s): | Hop, Haakon. Pavlova, Olga. |
Date: | 2007. |
Publisher: | Washington, DC: Smithsonian Institute |
In: | Proceedings of the International Polar Diving Workshop. Svalbard, March 15-21, 2007. (2007.), |
Abstract: | Describes four species of ice amphipods in drifting Arctic sea ice. Reports determination of abundance/biomass of ice amphipods below drifting sea ice around Svalbard from quantitative samples collected by scuba divers using electrical suction pumps. Considers consequences of sea ice reduction for southward transport of amphipod biomass and marine ecosystems. |
