| Abstract: | Examines tobacco use, obesity, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and impaired glucose tolerance in Alaska Native and American Indian women living in Anchorage area. Finds that, of 1334 women enrolling on research project between October 2000-July 2005, 33.5% are current smokers, 78.8% are overweight or obese, 10.9% are hypertensive, 21.4% have elevated total cholesterol, and 5.6% have fasting glucose concentrations > 126 mg/dL. |
