Abstract: Derives digital elevation models of Gepatschferner, Northern Tyrol, using digital photogrammetry from high-altitude stereo pairs from 1990 and digitisation of topographic glacier map from 1971. Calculates difference map to identify glacier elevation changes, noting mainly increase on glacier tongue below 2600 m and both increase and decrease above this. Identifies morphological features representing altitude changes >+30 m in accumulation zone. Relates tongue changes to 1970s period of high accumulation, and changes higher up to bed morphology or surface insolation differences. Calculates 26 x 10⁶ m³ (0.9%) loss of glacier volume between 1971 and 1990.
