| Abstract: | Discusses functioning and development of Sørkappland geosystem. Adds new date to existing material to present contemporary differentiation and pre-existing development of climate, glaciation, relief and water relations in territory of Sørkappland. Bases delimitation on spatial changes in bedrock, depositis, relief, geomorphic processes, mesoclimate, water conditions and vegetation. Presents thematic maps created from air photos and GIS, and radio-carbon dating of laminaria and whale bones from Quaternary deposits. Elaborates model of peninsula geosystem as totality consisting of geocomponents. Finds that glaciers react very quickly to climate changes, and that soils are fertilized by seabirds. Offers prognosis of geosystem development in next decade. |
