Field and laboratory experiments on the role of snow-covered thin sea ice influenced by riverine seawater in snow-ice formation / Yoshiyuki Kusumi, and 6 others.

Title: Field and laboratory experiments on the role of snow-covered thin sea ice influenced by riverine seawater in snow-ice formation / Yoshiyuki Kusumi, and 6 others.
Author(s): Kusumi, Yoshiyuki.
Date: 2007.
Publisher: Mombetsu: Okhotsk Sea & Cold Ocean Research Association
In: Proceedings of the 22nd International Symposium on Okhotsk Sea and Sea Ice, Mombetsu, Hokkaido, Japan, 18-23 February 2007. (2007.),
Abstract: Reports observations of snow-ice formation conducted over snow-covered thin sea ice at Saroma-ko lagoon and in test tank. Lagoon observations were made along survey line from mouth of river flowing into lagoon to artificial opening to Okhotsk sea. Laboratory tank observations were made under controlled snowfall and salinity. Measures evolution of snow and ice thickness and sub-ice temperature, salinity and oxygen isotope content and examines results using thermodynamic model to investigate influence of snowfall on ice formation.
