Abstract: Presents one-dimensional model of snow-firn sequence (SFS) and examines influence of different boundary conditions at SFS-atmosphere interface on parameters of sequence. Uses two approaches, based on effective turbulent exchange coefficient and Monon-Obukhov's similarity theory. Derives influence of different input parameters on distribution of temperature and density of SFS. Tests model on well-known experiment PILPS2D and applies to data from Gregoriev (Grigoryev) glacier for period 1990-2001. Finds model results in qualitative agreement with measured temperature-depth and density profiles and settlement of SFS over observed period.
