Record #18111:
Zur Tektonik der Ostküste von Grönland / Hans Cloos.
Title: | Zur Tektonik der Ostküste von Grönland / Hans Cloos. |
Translated title: | On the tectonics of the east coast of Greenland. |
Author(s): | Cloos, Hans. |
Date: | 1939. |
Language: | German. |
Abstract: | Author comments on papers of Bütler, Vischer, Stauber and Bierther. Tectonics is explained by area's being continental rim. Two questions are raised: has stretching been in control - was movement horizontal or vertical? and how does newly investigated stretch of coast relate to its southerly continuation? First answer is that movement is linked to uplift in centre spilling horizontal material into sinking area around it. Second is that metamorphic base is overlaid by massive basalt sheet. Rim is hinge of continental uplift with oceanic sinking of many kilometres. |
