Contemporary richness of Holarctic trees and the historical pattern of glacial retreat / Daniel Montoya, Miguel A. Rodríguez, Bradford A. Hawkins, Miguel A. Zavala.

Title: Contemporary richness of Holarctic trees and the historical pattern of glacial retreat / Daniel Montoya, Miguel A. Rodríguez, Bradford A. Hawkins, Miguel A. Zavala.
Author(s): Montoya, Daniel.
Rodríguez, Miguel A.
Hawkins, Bradford A.
Zavala, Miguel A.
Date: 2007.
In: Ecography. (2007.), Vol. 30(2) (2007)
Abstract: Examines hypothesis that increasing times of land availability entail higher chances of recolonisation and positive effects on tree richness. Generates dataset of Holarctic trees and evaluates influence of cell age (measure of time since area became free of ice) on observed tree richness gradients. Finds cell age to be associated with richness in both Europe and North America.
