Abstract: Caledonian sediment was first discovered and described by Lenz and Nathorst. Both connected colourful deposits with Hecla Hook Series in Spitsbergen. In 1926 Koch saw genuine Caledonian fold continuation in East Greenland early Precambrian sediment, initiating modern (sic) tectonic research. Backlund and Wordie extended westwards via Petermann series. Paper fills out detail of such extensions, including nunataks in Inland Ice.
