Abstract: Reports results of four cross-sectional surveys of representative samples of schoolchildren aged 14-17 since 1989. Calculates body mass index, measures blood pressure (Korotkov's method), and estimates serum total cholesterol (TC) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) with enzymatic methods. Finds prevalence of high TC and low HDL-C to decrease significantly in both gender groups; also prevalence of arterial hypertension to decrease in boys and girls.
