Aquatic invertebrates and high latitude paleolimnology / Ole Bennike, Klaus P. Brodersen, Erik Jeppesen, Ian R. Walker.

Title: Aquatic invertebrates and high latitude paleolimnology / Ole Bennike, Klaus P. Brodersen, Erik Jeppesen, Ian R. Walker.
Author(s): Bennike, Ole.
Brodersen, Klaus P.
Jeppesen, Erik.
Walker, Ian R.
Date: 2005.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Springer
In: Long-term environmental change in Arctic and Antarctic lakes. (2005.),
Abstract: Overview of Holocene, older Quaternary and Neogene invertebrate remains in Arctic and Antarctic lake sediments. Discusses importance of invertebrates as paleoindicators due to their wide distribution and identifiabilty, and also their adaptation to particular ecological conditions resulting in distribution in near equilibrium with environmental conditions at time of sedimentation. Includes protozoa, sponges, flat worms, rotifera, earth worms, molluscs, branchiopoda, cladocera, ostracods, copepods, beetles, flies, caddis-flies, spiders and bryozoa.
