Record #180935:

Physical and chemical properties and proxies of high latitude lake sediments / Scott F. Lamoureux, Robert Gilbert.

Title: Physical and chemical properties and proxies of high latitude lake sediments / Scott F. Lamoureux, Robert Gilbert.
Author(s): Lamoureux, Scott F.
Gilbert, Robert.
Date: 2005.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Springer
In: Long-term environmental change in Arctic and Antarctic lakes. (2005.),
Abstract: Reviews the various physical and chemical archives commonly found in high latitude lacustrine sediments, and discusses sedimentary characteristics associated with range of lake-watershed environments (proglacial, glacier-dammed, and periglacial) using examples from Canadian Arctic. Discusses fluvial, biogenic, aeolian, and ice rafting processes and facies, and mixed lake environments. Evaluates acoustic surveys, and use of mineralogy, texture, and biogeochemistry of organic matter and trace element composition of sediment cores for interpreting environmental significance of sedimentary records.
