| Abstract: | Reports counts made in some of largest colonies of seabirds breeding in Varanger and along coast of Murman from 1999-2005. Finds large decline in numbers of black-legged kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla) numbers in Varanger region since 1980, but no evidence of similar decline in Murman at least until 1999. Also, with exception of one colony in Murman, numbers of common guillemot (Uria aalge) breeding throughout region seem to have recovered after suffering huge decline in 1986-87. |
