Abstract: Reports results form three expeditions conducted in Guba Chupa (Chupa Estuary, north-western White Sea) to examine algae populations. Finds community in land-fast sea ice to be dominated by pennate diatoms and composition to be more closely related to that of underlying sediments than community of pack ice (which is dominated by flagellates, dinoflagellates and centric diatoms); also algae to be far more abundant in land-fast ice.
