Atmosphere - ocean - atmosphere coupling of the southern annular mode / Sen A. Gupta, M.H. England.
Title: | Atmosphere - ocean - atmosphere coupling of the southern annular mode / Sen A. Gupta, M.H. England. |
Author(s): | Gupta, Sen A. England, M. H. |
Date: | 2007. |
In: | CLIVAR Exchanges : newsletter of the Climate Variability and Predictability Programme. (2007.), Vol. 12(3) (2007) |
Abstract: | Strong surface signature of southern annular mode (SAM) can significantly affect ocean and sea ice in southern hemisphere. Authors investigate mechanisms associated with SAM that create robust oceanic anomalies, including modified heat advection acting in phase with changes in surface heat fluxes over much of Southern Ocean to enhance sea surface temperature response to SAM. |
