| Abstract: | Considers morphology, biology and geographic distribution of Hypsibius zetlandicus. Uses scanning electron microscopy to analyse morphology of H. zetlandicus and type species of Hypsibius, H. dujardini, with special emphasis on buccal-pharyngeal apparatuses. Also discusses new discoveries of species from polar, sub-polar and alpine regions in context of available bibliographic references, and hypothesizes boreo-alpine distribution. |
