Record #180710:

Is Doris georiensis García et al. 1993 a distinct species of dorid nudibranch? / Jenni Taylor, Sara Laimon, Ángel Valdés.

Title: Is Doris georiensis García et al. 1993 a distinct species of dorid nudibranch? / Jenni Taylor, Sara Laimon, Ángel Valdés.
Author(s): Taylor, Jenni.
Laimon, Sara.
Valdés, Ángel.
Date: 2006.
In: Polar Biology. (2006.), Vol. 29(1) (2006)
Abstract: Examines reproductive system and radular morphology of several specimens of Doris collected in Antarctic Ocean in attempt to clarify taxonomic status of Doris kerguelenensis and Doris georgiensis. Comparative analysis of samples was conducted to find correlations between anatomy of bursa copulatrix and variations in radular morphology and external features of these two species. Some consistent differences were found, suggesting possible existence of two distinct species, though further investigations are necessary to substantiate these conclusions.
