| Abstract: | Examines effect of faecal pellet production and destruction on vertical export and pelagic-benthic coupling in marginal ice zone of northern Barents Sea in July 2003. Finds older stages of Calanus finmarchicus and C. glacialis to dominate copepod biomass; also more than 90% of faecal pellets to be produced in upper 50 m where most copepods are located and copepod pellets to constitute ~10% of vertical particulate organic carbon flux, significantly less than copepod community's production. |
