| Abstract: | Initial environmental evaluation (IEE) for proposed longline fishing operation by Janas in Ross Sea, Antarctica, during 2005-06 season. Outlines relationships between various fishing companies involved (Sealord Group, Amtal Fishing Company, New Zealand Longline, Amalgamated Marketing Ltd. and Talleys Fisheries Ltd.) and gives overview of plans to continue exploratory fishery for toothfish Dissostichus mawsoni and Dissostichus eleginoides in order to provide data to CCAMLR's Scientific Committee and provide scientific information to support stock assessment for move from exploratory to "assessed" fishery status. Includes measures to mitigate seabird bycatch. |
