| Abstract: | Finds for first time clearly expressed coastal terraces on floor of Pechora Sea which was previously regarded as gently inclined underwater plain. These were registered by acoustic profiling using Parasound high-resolution profiler. Gives details of depths of terraces. Associates terrace at 120 m depth with coastline at maximum of last glaciation. Concludes that in Late Wurmian there was no ice sheet over Pechora Sea shelf which had dried during preceding regression, and therefore no evidence of existence of link between Northern Urals and Novaya Zemlya. |
