Daphnia growth rates in Arctic ponds: limitation by nutrients or carbon / G.J. van Geest, P. Spierenberg, E. van Donk, D.O. Hessen.

Title: Daphnia growth rates in Arctic ponds: limitation by nutrients or carbon / G.J. van Geest, P. Spierenberg, E. van Donk, D.O. Hessen.
Author(s): van Geest, G. J.

van Donk, E.
Hessen, D. O.
Date: 2007.
In: Polar Biology. (2007.), Vol. 30(2) (2007)
Abstract: Compares growth of juvenile Daphnia fed from two high-Arctic (79°N) ponds on Svalbard in 2004 differing strongly in phosphorus content and carbon/phosphorus ratios. Finds Daphnia growth to be limited by food quantity (carbon) rather than by phosphorus or nitrogen.
