Abstract: Sikhirtya (also known as Siirti, Sirtya and Sikhircha) hunted marine mammals and wild reindeer in tundra and forest-tundra in large region from Yenisey to Kanin Peninsula. Suggests possible ethnic links with other populations of forest zone of northern Eurasia (Itel'meny, Kamchatkans, Ugro-Indians) and discusses own view of polygenetic nature of ancient population of sub-Arctic. Sikhirtya are included in Nentsy legends. Analyses data on finds of waffle pottery from Late Neolithic to shed light on possible cultural links.
