Abstract: | Reviews data from autonomous acoustic recorders moored north-east of Barrow to detect calls of grey whales (Eschrichtius robustus) which have been reported with increasing frequency in area during summer and autumn. Study demonstrates that passive acoustic monitoring is useful for detecting whales during periods of darkness and in ice conditions precluding visual observation. |
