| Abstract: | Reports observation of vertical winds in polar thermosphere with Fabry-Perot interferometer installed at Poker Flat Research Range, Alaska. Compares vertical wind variations with peak location of ionospheric current deduced from magnetic field measurements on ground in case observed on 5 December 1999. Considers two possible ways in which observed wind patterns may be (upward on equator side of aurora in pre-midnight sector and opposite relation between vertical wind and aurora in post-midnight sector). |
