| Abstract: | Presents simulations based on dynamic modelling approaches originally designed for avalanches and debris flows. Uses both single-phase Voellmy-Salm approach and new one-dimensional two-phase model DBF-1d currently being developed for simulating granular debris flows. Briefly describes governing equations, input conditions, numerical analysis and results. Finds both approaches able to simulate overall rock/ice slide travel time, but both considerably underestimate flow heights, possibly because of errors in estimating pre-event topography. |
