| Abstract: | Analyzes altitudinal and spatial distributions of heavy metal elements on surfaces of two Tien Shan glaciers (Golubina and Grigorieva). Identifies significant increase of pollution in firn line area. Connects this with features of aeolian small particle distribution on glacier surface. Reports that content of some heavy metals in snow melt water is gradually reduced below firn line, testifying to active demineralisation of snow and firn, but that contents of majority of chemical elements in snow and melt waters increase from firn zone to ablation area. Explains this by secondary enrichment of ice and influence of moraine cover. |
