Abstract: Infers palaeoglaciological models for Last Glacial Maximum (LGM, 18-20 ky) using geomorphological data from Barguzinsky Ridge (Lake Baikal region) and Sredinny Ridge (Kamchatka). Analyses models to estimate equilibrium line altitudes of representative palaeoglaciers, obtaining ELA depressions of 1000-1100 m for Barguzinsky Ridge and 700-800 m for Sredinny Ridge. Uses empirical glacio-climate model to estimate LGM palaeoclimate parameters. Moisture estimates based on palynological data and global reconstructions suggest that LGM precipitation was approximately 1.5-2 times lower than today in Baikal and 1.2-1.5 times lower in Kamchatka. Suggests reconstructed palaeoglaciers owed their existence to summer air temperatures 7-9°C lower in Baikal and 5-7°C lower in Kamchatka.
