Реконструкция природной среды плейстоцена изотопными методами

Title: Реконструкция природной среды плейстоцена изотопными методами
Title, transliterated: Rekonstrukt︠s︡ii︠a︡ prirodnoĭ sredy pleĭstot︠s︡ena izotopnymi metodami / V.I. Nikolaev, and 6 others.
Translated title: Reconstruction of environment in Pleistocene by isotope methods.
Author(s): Nikolaev, V. I.
Date: 2006.
Language: Russian.
In: Materialy Gli︠a︡t︠s︡iologicheskikh Issledovaniĭ. (2006.), Vol. 101 (2006)
Abstract: Reports isotopic analyses of extremely well preserved mammoth hairs, revealing sinusoidal sequence of lighter and heavier carbon and nitrogen values ascribable to seasonal variations in food consumed and probably to animal physiological adaptation to dietary and climatic stress during winter. Positive δ¹⁵N and negative δ¹³C peaks probably represent late winter and negative/positive peaks late summer. Discusses hair growth rates, lengths of single-hair records and implied environmental changes. Estimates mean value of plant food consumed by mammoth on Bol'shoy Lyakhovskiy Island during Karginsky time (Middle Weichselian) was 2 per mil higher than those of modern plants of continental Northern Siberia, indicating conditions 32.5, 40 and 50 kyr BP differed from present.
