Record #179838:

Sémantique des affixes incorporants en langue inuit (Groenland oriental) / Nicole Tersis, Marc-Antoine Mahieu.

Title: Sémantique des affixes incorporants en langue inuit (Groenland oriental) / Nicole Tersis, Marc-Antoine Mahieu.
Translated title: Semantics of noun-incorporating affixes in the Inuit language (East Greenland).
Author(s): Tersis, Nicole.
Mahieu, Marc-Antoine.
Date: 2006.
Language: French.
In: Études Inuit = Inuit Studies. (2006.), Vol. 30(1) (2006)
Abstract: Using examples taken from Tunumiisut (East Greenland dialect) demonstrates that superficial variety of meanings of verbalising affixes involved in "noun incorporation" is misleading consequence of translation, which splits up semantic unity of each form. Suggests that formal confusion of distinct verbalising affixes can give rise to cases of remotivation on part of speakers.
Notes:
